The City League soccer program is a natural progression from the House League.
Games are played against all SYSA recreational club teams as well as other LVR teams. Teams may be placed in different divisions (ex. Gold, Silver or Bronze) in order to keep the competition appropriate to each team's overall skill level and to help manage leagues with a large number of teams. Older age divisions (U15+) may be combined in order to form viable leagues.
As this is a recreational soccer program, there are no tryouts and coaches may not select their players.
Practices typically begin in late August and the games start the weekend after Labor Day and continue into November.
Key details:
- When: City League begins the Saturday after Labor Day and runs for 10-weeks, concluding at mid-November. Games held on Saturdays and Sundays depending on age group and gender. Practices held once or twice mid-week depending on coach and team.
- Who: Boys and girls ages 9-18 (as of July 31) looking to play recreational soccer with friends. Participation may be limited by the number of volunteer coaches that are available.
- Where: Games are played across the city. LVR home fields include Laurelhurst, Upper View Ridge, Magnuson and Jane Addams. Away fields are city-wide and in Shoreline.
- Coaching: This program relies on parent volunteer coaches. Curriculum and coaching resources are made available to help coaches with practices and game management.
